RELEASE
A big fan of house and disco music, his repertoire includes lots of variations on these styles: funk, acid, deep house, italo, electro-disco, breakbeats, nu-disco, cosmic and disco-punk, always composing a diverse repertoire in terms of references and eclecticism within the world of new electronic music.
Part of the dance music scene for many years, Márcio Vermelho gave his first professional show at the renowned Mi Casita party in 2001.
The following year, in partnership with DJ Victor A, he designed his own project, Néctar, a high-quality musical project that combined great DJs and a lively public.
From 2005 to 2009 he was resident DJ and producer of the Avesso party, alongside DJ Marcos Morcerf, focusing mainly on cosmic grooves, with emphasis on new fusions of house music, and lots of synthetic references and sounds influenced by the ‘70s, 80’s and ‘90s. The party was a great hit, and a reference for quality and innovation on the São Paulo music scene, attracting thousands of people to the memorable editions held in the city’s two largest clubs: D-Edge and Vegas. The party also gained a large following in Rio de Janeiro, with monthly editions at the Dama de Ferro club.
From 2009 to 2011 he produced the Ludo party at the Vegas club, which became a unanimous favourite among the house heads, due to its good taste and impeccable selection of guest DJs.
His career as a musical producer began in 2006, when he remixed, alongside DJ/producer Luiz Pareto, one of the tracks of the EP “Preach” by project Coringa, launched by the record label Rebolado.
In recent years, Vermelho has been invited to produce soundtracks for fashion parades (of particular note, the 2008 Spring/Summer edition of SPFW, for which he created the highly acclaimed runway music for the designer Pedro Lourenço).
His remixes “Operator” and “Our Safe Love” were recently included in collections of the Mister Mistery label.
In 2008 he was invited by DJ and presenter Tim Sweeney (DFA) to take part in the New York radio show Beats in Space, which has a cult following.
He has been named best DJ in the country in various publications, and elected as the best in the 2010/2011 edition of Época magazine.
He has played in clubs of the main cities in Brazil and in major events like the UMF Ultra Music Festival and Nokia Trends Mob Jam, as well as sharing the decks with artists like Nicolas Jaar, Hot Chip, Andrew Butler and Kim Ann Foxmann/Hercules & Love Affair, Darshan Jesrani/Metro Area, New Order, Juan Maclean, Erobique (International Pony), Shit Robot, 2ManyDjs, Soulwax, Laidback Luke, Bottin, Runaway (Jacques Renault and Marcos Cabral), Gavin Russom, I:Cube, Golden Bug, Toby Tobias, Woolfy, Luomo, Todd Terje, Pilooski, Brennan Green, Beg To Differ, Silver City, Mr. C, Larry Tee, DJ Mehdi (Ed Banger), Daniel Bell, Fernando Pulichino/Silver City, Mr. Negative, and Jeff K, K-Rim, among others.
