Dance

The raison d’être of every club is to give its patrons the opportunity to celebrate the joys of life in a very special fashion. Dancing is without a doubt one of the most elementary and seminal ways of expressing our happiness and it is even better when we can do it among our peers, to the sound of good music.

Naturally, our body’s reception of sonic stimuli is essential for that, and D.EDGE has always made a point on providing us with the best conditions to make it possible. From a powerful sound system with impeccable quality to the careful choosing of some of the best artists in the contemporary electronic music scene, everything passes through the constant concern over giving the best to what makes our dancefloor such a special space: the public.

Design

One of the main factors that make D.EDGE’s singularity is its outstanding design. Recognised worldwide for the excellence of such a unique identity, the club constructed its prestige by keeping high levels of elegance wrapped around a bold visual proposal. More than just a question of mere decoration or architecture, each element is thought out with care to conform a totality that intensifies the sensorial experience of everyone within it.

The union between the talent of brilliant artist Muti Randolph and the inventiveness of visionary entrepreneur Renato Ratier stemmed the perfect conditions from which the synergy between acoustics and illumination could be enhanced to the max in this particular environment, where synesthesia plays a central role. The “black box f sound and light” became an instant classic and garnered global reputation among the lovers not only of the musicality the venue has always strived to purvey, but also appealed to all those interested in what that singular ambience can provide.

Development

In 2010 the partnership took this pioneering project to a whole new level, expanding the club’s area and opening it to even more possibilities for comfort and entertainment. This radical transformation didn’t have the purpose of making something already cozy even bigger, but making something great even better.

Each space that have become a part of the club bring a very particular identity. An elegant lounge with asymmetric walls covered with pau-ferro wood that yield a snugly warm environment; a vast terrace from where you can watch the magnificent sunrise in Sao Paulo and have a wonderful view of Oscar Niemeyer’s Latin America Memorial; a room entirely engulfed by video-quality LEDs and a sound system even more advanced than the one that gave the club its original reputation, both enhancing a lot more the sensory delight that is to be at D.EDGE’s dancefloor.

Diversity

However, this fabulous infrastructure only finds its purpose by being filled. Whenever it is replenished with those elements that bring it to life, be it sound-waves or people. Again, what makes the difference here, as in everything that sets the club’s excellence, is not quantity but quality.

Congregating people from all over the world, with the most varied inclinations and desires, but with a sole purpose: finding that aural ecstasy that only the musicality we promote can conjure. One that is guided by the diversity of dispositions and origins, by the unity between classic and avant-garde, with the simple objective of creating the perfect balance between good music and good company.

This is the secret of our dancefloor and the cohesion factor that keeps the club’s vibration constant through each one of its weekly projects, also through a myriad of crowds and styles and bringing a vast array of talents from all corners of the globe.

Distinguishment

This relentless search for improvement fructified in recognition, and this was naturally converted in a variety of awards. The club’s reputation among the world’s best was thus gradually consolidated in the media, surpassing even the narrow limits of the specialized press and was materialized in consecutive awards granted to D.EDGE for its architecture, lighting, sound, service, projects, nights, artista and practically everything that conforms the venue’s distinctiveness.

In order to illustrate more accurately such achievements, below follow some of the titles bestowed upon the club throughout nearly one decade that comprise its existence in Sao Paulo:

Data

As much as the information above shows the undeniable success of our proposal, it is still worthy to contrast it with some of the numbers that illustrate such glorious trajectory:

  • the club’s original area was 250m2 and now it is 650m2
  • the average of people that come to the club every month was originally twelve thousand until its expansion, now reaching eighteen to twenty thousand on a monthly basis
  • we estimate that, since D.EDGE’s inception in Campo Grande, between six and seven hundred global artists have visited our booth
  • between national and international talent, we have had up to three and nine DJs per night, reaching an average of six. Multiplying it by four, which is the number of weekly nights the club opens every week, we come to twenty-four DJs playing in an intense week
  • one thousand and five hundred cans of beer, as well as one hundred and fifty bottles of vodka are consumed each night.

Dedication

These aspects are a direct result of a joint effort, sprung from the competence of a well trained team committed to transposing to the service provided to our clients that same high level of artistic and technological quality that granted the venue’s global prestige.

There are one hundred and twenty two employees always focussed on the exact functioning of all the elements that compose this success formula. From the care with bars, tables, restrooms, booths and sound and light installations to the refined and extremely attentive relationship with the public, perennially concerned with the comfort and well-being of everyone to comes to D.EDGE looking for a unique experience.

Devotion

Moreover, these results are not the culmination of a project, but a stage in a trajectory that extends itself over the past two decades. D.EDGE’s greatest asset is certainly the fact that its owner and artistic director is also a skilled DJ, passionate music lover and warm host, qualities that permeate every dimension of the club.

Renato Ratier fell in love with music at a young age and always enjoyed displaying this feeling through the many enterprises that headed throughout his life. Staring with his first ventures into the production of events for thousands of people in the country’s Midwest, a crowd of magnitudes then unseen in the area and garnering a reputation among the local public already avid for quality entertainment in the process, it didn’t take long until these efforts were synthesized in a powerful concept such as D.EDGE. One that already in its early days in Campo Grande managed to insert the region in the global electronic music circuit.

The original impulse that created such concept obviously didn’t fade away and Renato pursued a new accomplishment by taking it to the epicenter Brasil’s cultural life: Sao Paulo, founding the bastion that it soon became and having both in his curatorship and residency the driving forces for its establishment among the best reputed clubs in the world.

In nuce, this is D.EDGE.
